With the digital age came an evolution of office equipment, including copiers. From the first copier was developed in 1959 – the Xerox 914, based on the xerographic process Chester Carlson, which he invented in 1938 – copiers are enhanced to increase the speed, size and color capability. The use of a laser to create the image has broadened the scope of this office staple.
Recent copiers differ from their older counterparts light lens in the form in which the image to be copied is exposed on the photoreceptor or drum. The photoreceptor or drum, is the main component in the laser copier. Is coated with a light receiving element such as selenium. The drum receives an electrostatic charge and the laser writes the image to the surface. The load is removed from the drum where the laser touches. The toner or ink, has the opposite charge, so it is attracted to the cleared areas on the drum. This is the basic principle of all copiers machines either analog or digital type.
The drum rotates laser copier toner adhering to it by the principles of static electricity. At the same time, the document also receives an electrostatic charge. As the drum rotates through the paper, the toner throw oppositely charged drum and the paper in the exact position of the image. A cleaning blade and then clean any excess toner from the drum preparing for the next image.
When the toner is transferred to paper, simply sits on the surface of the sheet. The fusion process actually bakes the toner in place and makes permanent image on the paper. Laser copier fuser comprises a heat roller melts the toner and a pressure roller pressed into place. These two rollers work with others with the paper passing between them.
Laser Copiers offer many benefits that light lens copiers do not. Because the images are scanned and stored in memory, it is easier to print several different images within the same run. Many brands to provide permanent storage of jobs that frequently reprinted, eliminating the need for analysis. Page Order and commands duplexing can be rearranged in the working memory of the laser copier also.
Since the machine is based digitally, these copiers can act as computer printers, scanners and fax machines, as well as the combination of all these elements in one multifunction machine.
